Privacy Policy

Maric Trading Pty Ltd (we, us, our) operates the Flockaroo service (Service). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, hold, use, and disclose personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

1. Open and transparent management (APP 1)

We are committed to managing personal information in an open and transparent way. This policy describes our practices. If you have questions, contact us using the details at the end of this policy.

2. Anonymity and pseudonymity (APP 2)

Where it is lawful and practicable, you may interact with us without identifying yourself, or using a pseudonym. For most account-based features of the Service, we will need to identify you to provide the Service securely.

3. Collection of solicited personal information (APP 3)

We only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for our functions and activities, including:

  • identity and contact details (for example name, email address, phone number, organisation);
  • account and authentication information;
  • usage, technical, and log information relating to the Service (for example IP address, device type, browser, timestamps); and
  • information you or your organisation voluntarily provide when using the Service (for example content, roster, or member-related records you upload or create).

We collect personal information directly from you, from your organisation where applicable, and in limited cases from third parties where you have consented or the law allows.

4. Unsolicited personal information (APP 4)

If we receive personal information we did not solicit, and we could not have collected it under APP 3, we will destroy or de-identify that information as soon as practicable, where it is lawful and reasonable to do so.

5. Notification of collection (APP 5)

When we collect personal information, we take reasonable steps to notify you (for example through this policy, in-product notices, or at the point of collection) about:

  • our identity and contact details;
  • the purposes for which we collect the information;
  • the main consequences (if any) if the information is not collected;
  • the types of organisations to which we usually disclose information;
  • whether we are likely to disclose information to overseas recipients and, if practicable, the countries involved;
  • how you may access and correct your information and how to make a complaint.

6. Use and disclosure (APP 6)

We use and disclose personal information only for the primary purpose for which it was collected, reasonably related secondary purposes you would expect, purposes required or authorised by law, or otherwise with your consent. Typical purposes include:

  • providing, operating, securing, and improving the Service;
  • communicating with you about the Service, support, and administrative matters;
  • billing and account administration;
  • complying with legal obligations and responding to lawful requests; and
  • internal analytics in aggregated or de-identified form where appropriate.

7. Direct marketing (APP 7)

We will not use sensitive information for direct marketing without your consent. Where we use personal information for direct marketing as permitted by law, we will provide a simple means to opt out and will honour your request promptly.

8. Cross-border disclosure (APP 8)

We may use service providers (for example hosting, email, analytics, or security vendors) that store or process data outside Australia. Where we disclose personal information to an overseas recipient, we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient complies with the APPs or we rely on an exception permitted by the Privacy Act, as applicable.

9. Government related identifiers (APP 9)

We do not adopt government related identifiers (such as tax file numbers or Medicare numbers) as our own identifier of individuals, and we will not use or disclose them except as required or authorised by law.

10. Data quality (APP 10)

We take reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information we collect, use, and disclose is accurate, complete, and up to date, having regard to the purpose of use.

11. Data security (APP 11)

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. This includes technical and organisational measures appropriate to the nature of the information and our operations. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

12. Access (APP 12)

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you. We will respond within a reasonable period. We may refuse access where permitted by law (for example where access would unreasonably affect the privacy of others). If we refuse access, we will explain the reasons and how you may complain.

13. Correction (APP 13)

If you believe personal information we hold is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant, or misleading, you may request correction. If we refuse correction, we will explain why and how you may complain. If we refuse to correct information, we will associate a statement with your record if you request it, where reasonable.

Cookies and similar technologies

We may use cookies and similar technologies for security, preferences, analytics, and to operate the Service. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect functionality.

Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be published with a revised “Last updated” date. Where changes are material, we will take reasonable additional steps to notify you where appropriate.
